A 3 days Mgahinga Gorilla Safari from Kigali is a short gorilla trekking tour package, starting from Kigali through the border crossing to Uganda’s Mgahinga National Park via the Kyanika border, which takes a 3-to-4-hour drive. Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is one of the mountain gorilla trekking homes, located in the southwestern Uganda region in the Kisoro district. The trip starts and ends in Kigali, Rwanda, the land of a thousand hills.

Day 1: Pick up at Kigali and transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
Upon your arrival at Kigali Airport or at the hotel, you will be welcomed by our driver-guide, who will brief you about the safari. Then, start the journey to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. The journey lasts 4 to 5 hours, passing through the Katuna border in Kabale.
Along the way, you will enjoy thrilling views of scenic rolling hills in Rwanda, terraced farmlands, scenic scenery, and many other sights. Arrive at the Hotel in Kisoro – a few drive from the hotel to the park – and check in for dinner and overnight stay at Lake Mulehe Safari Lodge – Midrange

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
After an early morning breakfast at your lodge, carry a packed lunch and meet up with your driver guide to transfer you to the park headquarters for a short briefing about gorilla rules and regulations. After, you will start trekking in the jungle in search of the mountain gorillas, which takes about 2-7 hours, depending on where the gorillas are located, because they like to move from one place to another in search of food. While gorilla trekking, you will be able to view other primate species, like L’hoest monkeys, chimpanzees, black and white colobus monkeys, different plant species, birds, and many more.
Once you find the gorilla family on a Uganda safari, you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their natural environment, which gives the opportunity to watch their habits and behaviours, breastfeed, take photos and record moments for your future remembrance. After, you will return to the starting point to meet your driver-guide to connect you to your lodge for relaxation or opt to go visit the Batwa community and interact with ancient people of this area, have dinner, and stay overnight as above.

Day 3: Depart for Kigali
You will have breakfast at leisure, followed by driving out of the park and departing back to Kigali with lunch en route. Upon arrival after a short Rwanda safari, you will be dropped off at Kigali International Airport for your departure flight or dropped off at any place of your choice.
