Take this 4 Days Uganda gorilla and golden monkey trekking safari in Bwindi National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. The park borders Rwanda and the DR Congo. The park is home to the Virunga volcanoes shared by these countries. It is the smallest of all Uganda’s national parks, filled with engaging activities for any outdoor visitor.
If you are interested in hiking any of the volcanoes like Sabyinyo, Gahinga and Muhabura, you can extend your stay; it takes a day to hike to the top of each of these volcanoes. You can also extend your stay if you want to embark on a gorilla trek in this park. This Uganda tour will give you a glimpse of the beauty of this park and an opportunity for a longer stay.

Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – Kisoro
Upon arrival at Entebbe airport very early in the morning, or depending on your location in Kampala/Entebbe, you will be picked up to transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, located in the western part of Uganda, by road.
You will have a stopover at the Uganda Equator for photography and the experiment and another stopover in Mbarara town for lunch. Proceed to Kisoro, arriving late afternoon. Upon arrival, connect to your booked lodge for a relaxation dinner and overnight stay at Travellers’ Rest Hotel/Lake Chahafi Lodge/Gahinga Lodge.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking experience
You will enjoy an early morning breakfast and transfer to the park headquarters with your packed lunch and bottled drinking water for a briefing by the park ranger guides at 7:00 am. After the briefing, you will start your gorilla trekking journey accompanied by the ranger guides in search of the mountain gorillas; this takes 2 to 8 hours, depending on the movement of the Uganda gorillas.
However, the guides will try to find them from where they were last seen the previous day. You will spend 1 hour with these gentle giants and later return to your lodge to refresh and relax. In the evening, you can do an optional community tour around Bwindi for a Uganda cultural experience. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge as above.
Day 3: Golden Monkey Tracking – Mgahinga National Park
You will enjoy an early morning breakfast and transfer to the Mgahinga National Park headquarters with your packed lunch and bottled drinking water for a briefing by the park ranger guides at 7:00 am. After the briefing, you will start your golden monkey trekking journey accompanied by the ranger guides in search of the monkeys. After trekking, return to your lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay at the lodge as above
Day 4: Transfer back to Kampala/Entebbe – Departure
You will enjoy breakfast and transfer back to Kampala with a stopover in Mbarara town for lunch. Proceed to Kampala/Entebbe, arriving in the late afternoon. You will be dropped off at the hotel in either Kampala/Entebbe, as you advise, or at Entebbe airport for your onward flight back home. End of 4 Days Uganda Gorilla and Golden Monkey Trekking Safari.
